Veterans Day 2011: Marple Newtown Honors Local Heroes

Legionnaires and war veterans from the Marple Newtown area and beyond held a ceremony to honor local veterans on Nov. 11 at Veterans Memorial Park in Broomall.

BROOMALL–An hour before the eleventh hour on Nov. 11, residents, Legionnaires and veterans honored local heroes at in Broomall.

Members of the Marple Newtown Combined Veterans Alliance, consisting of the in Broomall, the General Smedley D. Butler Detachment 741 of the Marine Corps League in Newtown Square and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7390 in Broomall, were represented during the ceremony.

Rep. Adolph William Jr. (R-165) was the keynote speaker of the ceremony on Friday morning, who spoke of the "sacrifices" of our local heroes. Raising of the flag and three volleys were fired during the ceremony in honor of those who have served and those currently serving for the country.
