Newtown Township Appointments

I have always found Newtown Township politics interesting, if not sometimes disturbing. I once sat through a Supervisor’s Meeting when I overheard a comment between two well known (but shall remain unnamed) residents after the meeting. One person mentioned to the other, “They were supposed to make two appointments tonight but they only made one. Oh well, at least we got “our guy appointed”.

To this day I still wonder what was meant by “our guy”. Was “our guy” going to be a person who would represent the township residents and their interests, or was “our guy” going to be a person who represented private (unknown) interests? Your guess is as good as mine.

If elected to the Supervisor position on November 5th, I assure you that I would seek to appoint qualified dedicated men and women, who assure me at a public township meeting that they seek the position to represent “you” the residents of this township and not private interests.

I am not stating that the integrity of those resident volunteers presently serving the township is in question (as I have previously served), but I am wondering what was the background surrounding the comment I heard, and how often has this happened before?

If elected as Supervisor, if any resident asks a question of any Board and is denied an answer for other than a legitimate legal reason, I will send a letter to the Chairman of that Board asking the same question. If I do not get an answer then I will attend the next meeting and publicly ask the question. All township Boards are there to serve the Supervisors and the residents alike. Refusing to answer legitimate questions from the public is unacceptable. This has happened to me and I know it has happened to others too!
