Supervisor Health Care Compensation

Since all candidates for the two Newtown Township Supervisor positions have now declared that if elected they would not accept paid health benefits for themselves and their families; I bring you back to my August 1, 2013 blog. At that time I stated that if elected I would sponsor a resolution repealing this benefit, thus preventing any present and future supervisor from adding to the taxpayer burden.

I hope this distinction does not slip past your attention on November 5th.

If you follow the link below you will find that this issue is not solely a Newtown Township concern. It is notable that other municipalities have the same issues. You may also be interested and surprised by the comments of those who support this policy.

If you go to the Newtown Township web site http://www.newtowntownship.org/ then page down to Newtown Township Financial Documents: , and then click on the 2013 YTD Statement of Revenue & Expenditures September 30, 2013 you will be able to see under line item 01-400.15600 the amount budgeted for Supervisor Health insurance. You can also see how much of your tax dollars has been expended. The next line item .15700 is also a cost to the township.
