MNHS Students Recognized on National French Exam

Three Marple Newtown High School students were winners of the National French Exam Contest and one student received honorable mention.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Three students from were recently announced as the National French Contest winners and one who received honorable mention.  

The four students took the national exam with over 100,000 other students across the nation. According to Mary Bolllinger, chairman of Marple Newtown's World Language Department, shared in an email that the exam was particularly difficult this year because it included authentic listening selections (i.e., selections that native French people would listen to).  

The exam is sponsored by AATF (American Association of the Teachers of French). Philadelphia area winners were honored at an awards ceremony at Chestnut Hill College on May 17th.

Winners included:  Emilie Boyer, Grade 11, Nicole Ozdowski, Grade 9, and
Melissa Patton, Grade 9.

Alice Tran, Grade 11, received honorable mention.
