Peek Inside Marple Newtown High School's New Gym

After pressuring the contracted construction company to step up their progress on the school's renovations, the gym has been completed in about one month's time.

At the Sept. 13 Facilities and Transportation Committee, Mike Dumin, school district operations manager, said Wilson Construction had 48 hours to submit their plan for the completion of the gym. The last resort would be forcing a default.

Dumin previously stated, "If they want to improve their reputation, completing the gym and pool goes a long way towards repairing it."

And they listened hard. In little over a month period, Wilson Construction has nearly finished the high school's gym. The gym includes a designated student section, new lights, bleachers, floors, basketball nets, and the high school's six pillars of character are represented. The six pillars of character are what Marple Newtown athletes should strive for: fairness, trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, caring, and citizenship.
