Churchmen's Super Soph Rises To The Surface

Sophomore Anthony Feliziani was a key factor in Episcopal Academy's win against Hill School last weekend.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Anthony Feliziani has scored a varsity touchdown before, getting into the end zone against Hun School.

But the sophomore tailback never had the kind of extended varsity play that he received in the on Saturday afternoon.

He rushed for a career-high 65 yards on 20 carries and he scored the go-ahead touchdown in Episcopal Academy’s victory. His play may have earned him more playing time.

“I think with what happened and the adversity we faced against Hill School, losing guys to injuries, we need some people to step up right now,” Feliziani said.

Though he was told to be prepared to play, Feliziani said he was at the "right place at the right time."

“We rearranged our lineup because of the injuries, and the coaches told me to be ready to carry the ball, if they needed me. I guess I was in the right place at the right time. I feel like I helped myself, and my offensive line helped me out a lot, giving me the holes. Cody Russell, my fullback, did a great job, too, opening up holes,” shared Feliziani.

After a big win for the school and as one of the driving forces of the victory against Hill School, Feliziani believes he can contribute in more ways than he could've imagined.

“I was little sore [Sunday morning], but I felt good about how we came back and beat Hill School,” Feliziani said. “I feel like now, I realize I can help the team in more ways than I felt I could.”

The Churchmen get a week off before they travel to Wissahickon for a non-league game on Oct. 6.
