Delco Christian's Blazing Pair

Sam Tascone and Zak Moore of Delaware County Christian School's football team are an unstoppable pair.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Sam Tascone and Zak Moore may weigh a combined 240 pounds if you put them together on a scale. They’re both tiny and skinny. Maybe a little too frail to be on a football field. There is one major problem with that—the tandem is almost impossible to catch.

Tascone, a junior, and Moore, a senior, used their blazing speed to combine for 108 yards rushing and complemented the Knights’ power inside rushing game of Tyler Winkis in over the defending District 1 Class A champion Calvary Christian Saturday night.

“Our offense is made to sneak past the defense, and since we’re both small, we hide behind our blockers and try get up field as far as we can,” said Tascone, in which three out of his six carries were for 13 yards or better.

“Beating Calvary Christian gives us the confidence to help us beat all the teams that beat us last year. At the end of the game, our coach didn’t want us celebrating on Monday. We have to get down to business and think about the next game," continued Tascone.

The 2-0 Knights, in their second year as a varsity program, have now equaled their victory total for last season, when they went 2-7. What’s more is that the next four opponents Delco Christian faces are a combined 0-10 and have scored a combined 35 points between them.

Things should heat up considerably the last two weeks of the season when Delco Christian plays a pair of undefeated teams, New Hope-Solebury and Springfield-Montco.
