NEWTOWN SQUARE–It was a nice start for new head coach .
and beating a large Prep Charter team, 16-0, on Friday in the season opener was huge. Fairlie’s reward: the team gave him a Gatorade shower after the second kneel-down to clinch the victory.

“It was real important for us to get off to a good start," continued Florio. "We won our opener my freshman year, and then the second game, before losing eight-straight games. I think the big difference in this game was I saw a lot of enthusiasm on the sideline. It’s something that we hadn’t seen in the last few years. A few losses got our team down, but this coaching staff has our team hyped up."
The Churchmen travel to Interboro next Friday at 7 p.m. for another big game. It carries weight because Interboro has not had two-straight home games in 18 years, and the Bucs are coming off a 35-21 season-opening loss to Springfield.
