Group Hopes to Name High School Fitness Center After Former Marple Newtown Athletic Director

The Allan Jones Dedication Committee are looking to name Marple Newtown High School's new fitness center after former coach and Athletic Director Allan Jones with the the help of a few upcoming reunion events.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–For 41 years, Allan Jones was a teacher, friend, colleague, coach, mentor, athletic director, and leader to thousands of students at the .

Since he retired in 2004, many of his friends have talked about an appropriate recognition for his dedicated service. As many know, the high school has recently undergone a $70 million renovation, which includes a new fitness center.

The Allan Jones Dedication Committee is organizing a series of events, and hope the public will be a part of one or more of the activities to raise enough funds so that they may dedicate the fitness center in his name.

Allan Jones touched so many lives for so many years, in so many positive ways, that the committee believes this will be a fitting close to an illustrious career.

The committee is asking that supporters save the dates of Oct. 20 and 21 for two reunion events at and , where supporters may greet Allan Jones personally and help the group in their effort to raise funds for the dedication.

Aronimink Golf Club, Newtown Square, PA
Noon, Lunch on the Golf Patio. Say “Hello” to Coach Jones.                                 1 p.m. Golf Tournament, 36 players; suggested donation $1,000 per player.

Event Two
Aronimink Golf Club, Newtown Square, PA
7-9 p.m., Reception and silent auction in the Aronimink Ballroom. Bid on tickets, services, golf, vacations, and more; $35 per person. Hors d’Oeuvres stations and cash bar.

1 p.m., Shotgun Golf Tournament with special games and prizes. Every group tees off on one hole with Coach Jones; 150 Players, $150 per player.
