Local Students Earn Degrees From Cornell, University of Sciences

A list of a few local 2012 graduates who recently graduated from Cornell University, University of the Sciences, Gettysburg College, Elizabethtown College, and Marymount University.

Below is a list of a few local students who recently graduated from college.

Cornell University

Cornell University recently announced the following students who graduated with the Class of 2012 during Commencement ceremonies in Ithaca, NY, on May 27, 2012:

University of the Sciences

Courtney Rae Porter, of Newtown Square, graduated from University of the Sciences during a ceremony on Wednesday, May 23, as part of the University's 191st Commencement celebration in Philadelphia. Porter graduated cum laude with a doctor of physical therapy degree. She is the daughter of Nan (mom) and Andrew (dad) Porter.

Gettysburg College

Tara Mitchell, of Newtown Square, graduated with a bachelors degree from Gettysburg College on May 20. Mitchell majored in Art Studio. Founded in 1832, Gettysburg College is a highly selective four-year residential college of liberal arts and sciences with a strong academic tradition that includes Rhodes Scholars, a Nobel laureate and other distinguished scholars among its alumni. The college enrolls 2,600 undergraduate students and is located on a 200-acre campus adjacent to the Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania.

Elizabethtown College

Julie Sebastian, of Broomall, graduated from Elizabethtown College in May 2012, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. Elizabethtown College, a private co-ed college in southeastern Pennsylvania with 1,900 students studying liberal arts, creative arts, business, education and science and engineering, recognized the accomplishments of the Class of 2012.

Marymount University

Marymount University recently announced that Courtney Kelly, a resident of Newtown Square, earned a B.A. in Fashion Merchandising. Kelly is among the more than 450 undergraduates and 350 graduate students who received degrees at the University's 61st Commencement Ceremonies at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, DC, on May 20.
