Marple Newtown High School Remembers 9/11

NEWTOWN SQUARE–'s 1,200 students poured onto the front parking lot on Friday morning in observance of the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001.

Members of the high school's Student Council and National Honor Society placed approximately 3,000 flags onto the front lawn of the high school to dedicate each of the lives lost during 9/11.

Students, faculty, parents and administrators were joined by members of the , , , , , members of the Marple Newtown Combined Veterans Alliance as well as Marple Board of Commissioners President Michael Molinaro and Newtown Board of Supervisors Chairman Joseph Catania.

High School principal Dr. Ray McFall led the ceremony with remembering that fateful day and honoring those who lost their lives, including Sgt. James Fordyce, a 2011 Marple Newtown alum, who was killed on tour in Djibouti, Africa, on Feb. 17, 2006. Fordyce's mother Peggy was present at the high school ceremony in the remembrance ceremony.
