Marple Newtown Is Moving Forward

The Tigers are looking ahead after a loss against Ridley on Friday, Sept. 23.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–There’s no other way to recover from a 27-7 drubbing, as will have to do after , other than to move forward.

There were a few positives from that night though.

Chris Kurkian, a rough-and-tumble 5-foot-5, 180-pound senior who plays offensive guard and defensive tackle was one of those bright spots from Friday's game. He also punts, which was a positive, despite horrible rainy conditions.

“I couldn’t get the full range of motion in my leg because it was so slippery,” Kurkian said. “Ridley was the better team. The game speed was a little different. We’re an inexperienced team and that showed."

Kurkian believes the only step after the game against Ridley is to simply prepare and practice hard for this Friday's game.

"Coming off a loss like that, we’re looking forward towards this week’s practice and practice really hard," said Kurkian. "The effort was there. Everyone tried their hardest. We all said to each other we’re coming back and try to forget what happened."

Though several schools in the area canceled last Friday's game due to the weather, Kurkian said the weather wasn't a big hinderance.

"The rain didn’t really bother us," shared Kurkian. "We made a few mistakes on offense that we haven’t made this year. There were missed assignments we need to work on.”

The Tigers will host Lower Merion this Friday at 7 p.m.
