Marple Newtown Marching Band Receives First Place in Competition

The Marple Newtown High School marching band received first place in the recent Owen J. Roberts band competition earlier this month.

On Oct. 1, the marching band competed against five other high school marching bands at the Owen J. Roberts High School's Cavalcade of Bands competition in Bucktown, and coming out on top.

The marching band received first place in the Liberty Division–with a score of 83.20 out of 100–and competed against Central Buck East (second place); Sun Valley (third place); Unionville (fourth place); Cheltenham (fifth place); and Phoenixville (sixth place). In total there were 14 other high school and middle school bands that performed that night.

Watch their performance of the Tiger marching band as they play Fast Track by Frank Sullivan and drill by Todd Marcocci. The Tiger Band is busy preparing for their 42nd annual Bandarama on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. at Marple Newtown's Harry Harvey Field. Nine bands will be competing that evening.  Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. Show your support for the band.
