Marple Newtown’s Big Homecoming Week

Tigers are at a prime position to garner playoff berth–the only thing standing in their way is Haverford High School.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–At one time this season, scored on 12-straight possessions.

The , they’ve , and they seem in a prime position to garner a PIAA District 1 Class AAA playoff berth.

Possibly standing in the way of that being a certainty is a revved Haverford High School team that’s won three-straight games and will be visiting Marple Newtown this Friday at their homecoming game at 7 p.m.

Marple Newtown sits at 6-1 overall and 5-1 in the Central League.

Haverford just had its starting quarterback, Eddie Durkin, arrive back in the lineup, making the Fords a much, much different team than they were a week ago.

Even though the Fords are hot, perhaps no teams may be hotter right now than Springfield and Marple Newtown. 

“They’re a good team, there’s no doubt about that,” Haverford coach Joe Gallagher said about the Tigers.

Gallagher continued, “I know they’re fast, extremely fast. What they do well in that Wing-T and the way they move the ball, they’re dangerous. Keeping their fast kids in check will be really, really challenging for us.”

The Tigers' force, based on speed and agility, on the field will be a challenge for the Fords to hold back, especially their MVP , who is one of the toughest Tigers to catch.
