Marple Newtown Senior Bangs Out Big Numbers

Cimirrow Moat, of Marple Newtown High School's football team, rushed for over 250 yards learning a new position.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Cimirrow Moat vows he’s different this year. He’s older and calmer than the previous year.

The 5-foot-10, 160-pound senior running back sees the field much differently, which is where some of his career-best 258 yards and three touchdowns came from in the .

Moat was a wingback last year as a junior, which is like a totally different world for him.

“I’m way more patient because I went through a full camp at the fullback position this year, which is why I know the offense more and trust my offensive linemen,” Moat said.

“I trust them a lot," he continued. "I didn’t have much experience running the ball at the varsity level and wasn’t sure what hole to run through. I’m making the play develop more for me.”

Defensively, Marple Newtown’s defensive line did most of the work against Sun Valley. Moat, a two-way starter at cornerback, got a night off.

“This was a very important start for me and this whole team,” Moat said. “We got off to a slow start and everyone had to get used to the flow. It was very exciting once we scored, it started to roll from there.”

Moat and Marple Newtown is hoping to keep things up this Friday night when the Tigers visit Penncrest.
