Marple Newtown Sophs Raise Over $2,800

Marple Newtown High School sophomores raised $2,813 for their annual community service program Project 10.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The final count is in. 's recent sophmore class (Class of 2014), raised $2,813 as part of the sophomore class's annual community service event.

Project 10 is an annual community service event held each year in the spring, where the sophomore class comes together to raise money for a selected charity of their choice. The goals for the project are: service, class unity and tradition.

On the day of the event, students participate in a Walk-A-Thon and participate in a class unity event on the high school's football field. Teachers Elizabeth Landes and Christine Roy are the class advisors.

This year, three organizations were selected to benefit from the $2,813, total amount raised. Those included:

  • Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House – $1,583
  • Philabundance – $775
  • Urban Tree Connection – $455

This year's collection brings Project 10's five-year total to a whopping $17,310.
