MNHS Cheerleaders Make Top 16 in Nationals, Compete in Central League Championship

Marple Newtown High School's varsity cheer team places in the top 16 in the National High School Cheerleading Competition in Orlando, FL, and will compete in the Central League cheerleading championships on March 3 at Upper Darby High School.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The varsity cheerleaders have had a number of achievements this season–first with to reigning first in the area's high school cheer competitions such as , , and the .

On Feb. 10-11, the squad competed against the top high school cheerleading programs in the nation in Orlando, FL, for the National High School Cheerleading Competition. The Tigers placed in the top 16 and landed in the semi-finals for the medium varsity division. View the video of their routine from the competition here.

The cheerleaders will begin their quest for a Central League title on Saturday, March 3, at 2 p.m. at Upper Darby High School. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. The school is urging parents and supporters to come early to avoid any parking issues.
