MNHS Senior Honored By National Football Foundation

Sean Ridinger, a Marple Newtown High School senior, was recently recognized by The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame with the Scholar Athlete Award.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–, a senior, was among 33 HS and 9 college students from the greater Philadelphia area, who were presented with the Football Scholar Athlete Award by The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.  

The award was presented at the Philadelphia Chapter annual awards banquet at Villanova University. Andy Talley, head football coach at Villanova and President of the Philadelphia area chapter, led the ceremony, which also honored Mike Kern, sports journalist with the Philadelphia Daily News and other area coaches and officials.

The names of all honorees will be entered into the College Hall of Fame, in South Bend, IN.

Ridinger was a two-year starter at offensive guard and an honorable mention selection for the All-Central Team. He also played inside linebacker for the Marple Newtown Tigers. Ridinger was a tri-captain for the playoff Marple Newtown Tigers football team.

He was also the winner of the Jim Smith Most Dedicated Player Award and the Brian Peoples Memorial Scholarship. Ridinger also plays lacrosse and will .
