MNHS Students 'Raise the Bar' in Fall, Winter Athletics

Marple Newtown High School recently recognized their fall and winter student-athletes for their excellence in scoring high team GPAs.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Over 300 fall student athletes at Marple Newtown High School had an overall grade point average of 91 percent for the fall season. This is a reflection of a total team effort, from students, teachers, coaches, and parents, announced the school district.

Their collective efforts have continued to “Raise the Bar” for their student athletes.Both winning programs were rewarded with a lunch. This was sponsored by the High School Renaissance Program in conjunction with the Athletic Department.

The overall grade point average winners for the fall season was a tie between girls cross country and girls tennis. Each team had a GPA of 96 percent. That is the highest yet for a winning program. Credit goes to Mrs. Vilmerding, Mr. Jenson, Ms. Schenk, Mrs. Power, and Mrs. Evans for all of their hard work with the teams.

Girls cross country–96%
Girls tennis–96%
Girls soccer–95%
Volleyball–95%
Field Hockey–91%
Boys soccer–89%
Golf– 88%
Cheerleading–88%
Boys cross country–86%
Football–85%

The Marple Newtown girls indoor track team and Coach Mr. Andrew Lofaro had the highest cumulative GPA for the second marking period with a 95 percent average.
