Over $26,000 Donated to Marple Newtown Schools

Marple Newtown School Board members accepted donations to several of their schools in the district at a meeting on Jan. 24.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–At a Marple Newtown School Board meeting last Tuesday, school officials gladly accepted the donations from PTOs as well as a few community members for several schools in the .

The donations ranged from $349 to as much as $13,608 and were donated to ,, , and .

The following donations were accepted for specific programs or equipment at the schools:

  • $349–From Loomis PTO for a new printer for the school library.
  • $2,456–From Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Baker for two iPads for Culbertson Elementary Special Education.
  • $2,980.43–From Culbertson PTO for Venture Grants (providing teachers with financial funding to implement new and creative resources into the classroom).
  • $3,393–From Paxon Hollow PTO for one Smart Board.
  • $3,800–From Russell PTO to paint the cafeteria and gymnasium.
  • $13,608–From Worrall PTO for six Smart Boards.

"I don't know what we would do without our PTO," said Nancy Galbraith, vice president of the school board, at last Tuesday's meeting. "And I applaud Mr. and Mrs. [Kenneth] Baker for making a private donation, so I thank one and all."

School Board member Rob Sack also shared the same sentiments.

"It is incredible how much the PTO has raised," said Sack. "It really is crazy. They do a wonderful job."
