Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: When Sean was chosen by the faculty as co-president of the school's Student Council, he was "excited" by the news.

"I felt excited," recalled Sean. "I didn't know if I was going to get picked or not. It's my last year at St. Pius and I thought it would be cool to be president and help the school out."

Sean had to address the eighth-grade class with a speech during his campaign for student council president. Although many students his age may find this task daunting, Sean thrives in it.

"Public speaking is not something I'm nervous about," shared Sean. "At church, I say some readings in front the congregation and I also say a prayer in the morning in front of the school. For the most part, I'm pretty good at it."

Some of the goals Sean hopes to accomplish as co-president this year is to research foundations and organizations to help as a class and hopefully spearhead a program or event this month for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Some of his personal goals this year? "I always get a 93 average throughout my subjects but I'd probably get a higher average if I could. I would like to win an aware for a sport that I would play this year. For track, I would like to win all the races."

Soccer is also a big part of Sean's life. He's been playing since the age of 5 and has been on a list of travel teams. He's a mid-fielder and simply just loves the game because "it's so much fun." It also helps that some of his best friends play with him on the school team. Due to an injury–a fractured bone in his PCL and a torn tendon–Sean's hopes for trying out for football this year may have to wait.

But he hopes to continue playing soccer next year in high school. He has his sights on Malvern Prep or Cardinal O'Hara.

A school that has become his home and his class that has become like family, Sean says he'll miss St. Pius X next year.

"Since I was in kindergarten I went to St. Pius," said Sean. "I'll probably miss the teachers the most because they're nice. The people that are there...they're friendly and you feel welcomed a lot. I'll miss my whole class–we're all really close friends together."
