2012 Olympic Hopeful Brendan Hansen on B101

Local radio station B101 talks to the former Newtown Square Suburban Swim Center swimmer on the radio about vying for the 2012 USA Olympic Team.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–A former Suburban Seahawk at the Suburban Swim Center in Newtown Square is headed to the 2012 Olympic Trials in Omaha, NE, this Monday.

B101 Radio talks to Brendan Hansen, a Havertown native, about vying for a spot on the 2012 USA Olympic Team.

Hansen, who just missed qualifying for the 200-meter breaststroke in the 2008 Olympic Trials (he came in fourth) decided to take a break from swimming, is back and ready to compete at the trials on June 25.

Hansen has already won a silver medal in the 100-meter breaststroke, a bronze in the 200-meter breaststroke and gold in a medley relay.

"The reason why I'm swimming is to win gold in London," Hansen previously told Marple Newtown Patch. "I've won silver and bronze but not a gold in the singles. I've never been more excited."
