In observance of Fourth of July, celebrating America's 237th birthday, the following businesses are closed for the federal holiday. So while most government offices and some businesses may close on this day, some do not.

The following businesses will be closed on Thursday, July 4 unless otherwise stated.

 Government Buildings

  • Marple Township Building: Closed
  • Newtown Township Building: Closed

Beer/Liquor Stores

  • Wine & Spirits: Closed
  • Newtown Square Beverage: Open
  • Broomall Beverage: Open

Banks

  • Most local banks in the area will be closed
  • TD Bank: Open until 1 p.m.

Libraries

  • Marple Library: Closed Thursday and on Sundays throughout July and August 
  • Newtown Library: Closed Thursday and Friday (July 4-5) and on Sundays throughout July and August 

Automotive

  • Department of Motor Vehicles: Closed Thursday

Grocery/Restaurants/Speciality Stores

  • Christopher Chocolates: Open Thursday during the parade but closed Friday, July 5 through Sunday, July 7
