Meet Claude Falcone - candidate for Marple Newtown School Board

Meet Newtown Township resident Claude Falcone - a father, teacher, Army veteran, and parent of a Marple Newtown Senior High School student. Claude is a candidate for Marple Newtown School Board.

The Marple Newtown Democratic Committee wants all residents in our community to get to know the extraordinary candidates that they can vote for this year in the upcoming Primary Election.  This is the first in a series of communications offering in-depth information about each of our candidates.

Claude Falcone wants to offer his considerable experience and skills gained as Teacher, Army Veteran and Parent to the position of School Director for Marple Newtown School District.   

Claude has lived with his family in Newtown Township for 19 years.  His daughter is a ninth grade student at Marple Newtown High School.  Claude has been teaching for over 20 years.  He has taught English, Writing, Mass Media and History at various schools in the Philadelphia School District. He has acted as an audio-visual technician, photographer and television studio operations teacher. Claude currently teaches English at South Philadelphia High School.

Claude earned a BA in Communications from Temple University and a Masters in English Education from Widener University.  He completed his Education Certification requirements from Lincoln University.  From 1983 to 1988, Claude served in the United States Army as a broadcast journalist at Fort Hood, Texas and with the Armed Forces Network Europe.  After an honorable discharge, Claude continued to serve in the U.S. Army reserves. Claude attended and graduated from PA Army National Guard OCS class 31 and graduated from Armor Officer Basic School and Advanced Officer Basic School in Fort Knox, KY. He served in the 56th Brigade, PA National Guard and received his 20 year letter, retiring as a Captain in 2003.

Claude has served his country and community.  As a classroom teacher now, Claude brings an important perspective and ideas for improving education and supporting teachers. His skills in audio visual technology and television studio operations will prove valuable in providing additional avenues for communication to residents.

Claude believes that parents with children in Marple Newtown schools need a voice on the Marple Newtown School Board.  He is interested in technology in the classroom and curriculum development. He is also dedicated to keeping strong physical education, sports, Music and Art programs in our school district. 

Candidates for Marple Newtown School Board will be voted on in the Primary Election on May 21, 2013. Republicans and Democrats alike can support quality public education and strong public schools for our children and our community by voting for Claude Falcone on May 21.
