MN Democrats: Get Involved in 2014

With a massively unpopular and incompetent governor atop the Republican ticket in 2014, Marple Newtown Democrats have a golden opportunity to make progress in critical elections for Congress and the state legislature.

This is a very important year for Democrats in Pennsylvania. Not only do we have the opportunity to replace a right wing governor who’s regressive policies have harmed everything from education, voting rights and health care, we also have the opportunity to re-organize our party and strengthen our presence in our communities.

This is the year the Democratic Party elects committee people and party leadership. These positions are the grass roots back bone of the Democratic Party. Members of the Committee have important responsibilities – they alone have the right to vote to endorse candidates for public office. Committee people also debate and implement party platforms and issue agendas. They help with candidate recruitment and training. Committee people are our link to the voters in our neighborhoods when candidates for school board, the legislature, Congress, Governor and even President of the United States need to talk to our neighbors.

The role of committee person is a critical part of America’s democratic process and elections. This is a message for all registered Democrats in Marple Newtown – think about what the Democratic Party means to you and give some thought to joining us as a committee person. The time commitment involved is not that considerable, but the impact you will have on our democratic process will be invaluable.

If you are concerned about our public schools in Marple Newtown, you should get involved this year. 

If you are concerned about the land use, zoning and economic development decisions made by the Marple Commissioners or Newtown Supervisors, you should get involved this year.

If you are concerned about the right wing takeover of our state and nation and the disastrous consequences their policies are having on public education, health care and income equality, you should get involved this year.

If you are concerned about the visceral right wing attacks on voting rights, civil rights and collective bargaining rights, you should get involved this year.
