Gratitude Ride, Cheerleader, Ice Hockey Fundraisers Among Weekend Events [Get Out]

It's a busy week and weekend in and around Marple Newtown Patch. See what's going on.

There are lots of things happening this weekend. It's a weekend full of music and community events. Support you local community and donate your time, money or food toward two school activity fundraisers or local food banks in the Gratitude Ride. Enjoy free concerts or a multi-family yard sale. And if you're looking for a good time for your pet, take them to a mosaic event.

Free Radio 104.5 Concert

  • When: Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m.
  • Where: 69th Street Transportation Center, Upper Darby
  • Why Go: ISEPTAPHILLY and Radio 104.5 will present The Fleeting Ends, a local band with roots in Upper Darby. The show will be followed by a meet and greet with the band and prizes give aways.
  • Cost: Free
Marple Newtown Cheerleader Fundraiser
  • When: Thursday, Nov. 21 
  • Where: Uno's Chicago Grill, 3910 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square 
  • Why Go: Enjoy a meal at Uno's and let your server know you are with the Marple Newtown High School Cheerleader Fundraiser and they will donate up to 20 percent of your check back to the cheerleaders. 
  • Cost: $10 donation requested
Gratitude Ride
  • When: Saturday, Nov. 23 at 8 a.m.
  • Where: Inner Drive Fitness, 210 S. Newtown Street Road in Newtown Square
  • Why Go: The community is invited to join a two-hour indoor cycling (aka "spinning") session to help fight hunger in the community. Enjoy a great workout and burn those pre-Thanksgiving calories, while fighting hunger in the local community at the same time. 
  • Cost: Event is free but food and monetary donations will be collected to support St. Marks Emergency Food Center in Broomall. 

Marple Newtown Ice Hockey Fundraiser

  • When: Saturday, Nov. 23, all day
  • Where: AC Moore and Italian Delight in Broomall
  • Why Go: Show your support for the Marple Newtown Ice Hockey elementary and middle school players who will be collecting donations to help support their club.
Paws-N-Tails Mosaic Event
  • When: Saturday, Nov. 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Where: Media Borough Community Center, 301 N. Jackson St., Media, 
  • Why Go: Unity Animal Hospital invites the public, and their pets, to participate in the creation of a mural designed by prominent Media mosaic artist, Claire Brill. The mural is comprised of clay paw prints and mosaic tiles. Bring your pet to participate in the event. All dogs must be leashed and all cats and other animals must be in secure carriers.
  • Cost: A charge of $100 per animal for a print set in clay. For an additional $50, participants will receive a second paw print of their pet to take home. 

Philadelphia Bronze Handbell Concert

  • When: Saturday, Nov. 23 at 8 p.m.
  • Where: St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2400 N. Providence Rd, Media
  • Why Go: Enjoy this performance which is sure to bring the holiday spirit. You can look forward to pieces such as; John Rutter's Angel's Carol, Jason Krug's Jingle Bells, The March and Dance Russe Trepak from The Nutcracker, and so much more.
  • Cost: Free but donations welcome
Multi-Family Yard Sale
  • When: Saturday, Nov. 23, starting at 8 a.m. Rain Date: Nov. 24
  • Where: 100 block of Kent Road in Springfield
  • Why Go: Find lots of furniture items like bunk beds, coffee table and dresser and other household goods, jewelry, kid's clothes, books and games, exercise equipment, records and more.
