The store saw five retail thefts over a two week period, police say.
The following information was supplied by Marple Township Police. Any arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate guilt or conviction. Police investigated multiple retail thefts at Old Navy on the 400 S. State Rd in Springfield recently. On April 30, at about 5:19 p.m., the store's loss prevention officer detained a 23-year-old Philadelphia woman in connection with a retail theft, according to the report. The woman was observed by the store employees, placing $157.18 worth of items into her purse and continuing to walk past all points of sale without any attempt to pay for the items, according to the report. Several Marple Township police officers were honored with the 2012 awards for outstanding police work recently.
Several Marple Township police officers were honored at a township meeting in May. Marple Police Chief Tom Murray presented the officers with the 2012 awards for outstanding police work. Officer Jeffrey Haughey, Officer Andrew Ronsvalle and Officer Peter Baylor received a Written Commendation for Efficient Police Work. The award reads as follows: Please be advised that your names were submitted to the Police Department Honor Board, for consideration for your police action on May 31, 2012. Chester and Montgomery counties have issued alerts for a 13-year-old girl from Reading, who was last seen Wednesday. Destiny Hernandez is described by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as an endangered runaway. Destiny may be in the company of an adult male. She has a scar on her left hand. When Destiny was last seen, she had red and orange highlights in her hair. -according to her missing poster. Hernandez is described as being 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information should call the Reading Police Department at (610) 655-6116.

The following information was supplied by Newtown Township Police. Any arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate guilt or conviction. Witnesses assisted in stopping a drunken driver from driving recklessly in Newtown Township, police said. On April 27, at about 7:47 p.m. police were dispatched to the area of S. Newtown Street Road for a report of a reckless and possibly intoxicated driver, according to the report. Witnesses reported that a black Toyota was northbound, traveling in the opposing lane of traffic and almost caused several head on collisions. More witnesses reported that the Toyota was now stopped on S. Newtown Street Road at West Chester Pike and several bystanders had the Toyota blocked in, according to the report. …

Marple Township Police responded to one residential burglary in April, police say.
Marple Township Police responded to 246 calls for service in April, Marple Police Chief Tom Murray said at the May 6 workshop meeting. Below is a breakdown of some of those police calls. Comparing the first four months of 2013 to the first four months of 2012, Murray said, thefts are down 21 percent and vandalism is down 25 percent. "This is certainly a good thing," Murray said. "I'm pleased with the numbers." He said he believes part of the decline in thefts is that residents are locking their car doors and not giving people an opportunity to break in to vehicles. The following information was supplied by Newtown Township Police. Any arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate guilt or conviction. Signs and mailboxes were recently damaged or stolen in Newtown Township. On April 21, on the 3500 block of Green Countrei Drive in Newtown Square a mailbox was toppled overnight, according to a police report. A large number of nails was also found dropped at the end of the driveway several days earlier, according to the report. A street sign for Patterson Place, normally located at the intersection with Green Countrie Drive, was also missing from atop the sign post on April 21, according to the report.
