Broomall McDonald's To Fully Reopen By June 15

The Broomall McDonald's will fully reopen its restaurant on June 15, according to an employee.

BROOMALL–Since late April to early May, the Broomall McDonald's has been alternating its service to its customers by offering dine-in only to its patrons then switching over to drive-thru only. The alternating service has been due to the restaurant's remodeling project as part of the chain's nationwide campaign in changing their image from their well-known image as a fast food restaurant to more of a "casual dining" restaurant. One of the big changes to the restaurant has already been constructed and currently being used: two side-by-side drive thru lanes, each with their own menu boards and speakers, to help with traffic flow off of Sproul Road. Though the dine-in portion of the restaurant is currently closed to the public, customers can …

Daughter Hopes To Continue Mom's Salon Legacy

Joyce's Salon in Ardmore, run by Joyce Goldhahn, of Broomall, is now run by Joyce's daughter, also of Broomall, and has been in business since 1970.

ARDMORE–Tucked into an unassuming storefront on E. County Line Avenue in Ardmore is a small salon with a long history. Joyce's has been doling out cuts and colors for 42 years now, and some of the salon's clients have been coming for just as long, or longer. Joyce Goldhahn, of Broomall, the salon's original owner, worked side-by-side in the salon with her daughter, Kathy DiMario, also from Broomall, for 29 years before retiring in December of 2011. The pair met with Patch recently to talk about the salon's beginnings, their experience working together, and what the future holds. In 1970, Goldhahn was a single mom in her mid-20s, working at a hair salon in Philadelphia.  When her brother-in-law decided that year to sell his building at 2608…

At the time, his cousin was working at the Philly Pretzel Factory's Broomall location and referred him to a job. "Marques' cousin was working for us for about two months and introduced me to Marques...he and I just kind of hit it off from jump street since then," recalled Co-owner of the Broomall Philly Pretzel Factory Gary Nolan. "You could immediately tell he had great people skills. Chandler said it initially just started out as any other job and was looking for a second job in the meantime, hoping to save money to send his two young daughters off to college some day. An employee at the Broomall branch told Marple Newtown Patch Thursday that the location will be featured on the CBS show 'Undercover Boss' Friday, April 27, at 8 p.m.

BROOMALL–Remember that film crew that arrived in Marple Township last December and was spotted at the Philly Pretzel Factory and the Country Squire Diner along West Chester Pike? That mystery may be solved. Although Gary Nolan, co-owner of Broomall's Philly Pretzel Factory, was tight-lipped about the filming that had occurred last year, an employee at the Broomall branch confirmed on Thursday that the location will be featured on CBS’ hit reality show Undercover Boss on Friday, April 27, at 8 p.m. Dan DiZio, CEO and co-founder of Philly Pretzel Factory, has been picked to appear on Undercover Boss. What they got the first time they met with him, disappointment, would have been all they had gotten if not for the exposure. These people invest a lot of money and pay a percentage to the franchisor/Philly Pretzel, i.e. and they give…   more ›
