Spirit Explosion All Stars Shine Bright

The Spirit Explosion All Stars, based out of Broomall, were the winners of the 2012 NCA All Star National Championships in Dallas, TX.

BROOMALL–The Spirit Explosion All Stars "Fire" and "Fury" were the big winners in February at the 2012 NCA All Star National Championships in Dallas, TX. The Small Junior Level 4 and Small Senior Level 4 teams practice out of Liberty Cheer Institute in Broomall.  The teams are made up of girls from Southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware, who practice three days (nine hours) a week, to perfect their winning routines since tryouts are in May. The Small Senior Team " Fury" scored the second highest score out of 127 Level 4 teams at the event. The Small Junior Team "Fire" was also a Top 10 ranked score. MNHS Cheerleaders Make Top 16 in Nationals, Compete in Central League Championship

Marple Newtown High School's varsity cheer team places in the top 16 in the National High School Cheerleading Competition in Orlando, FL, and will compete in the Central League cheerleading championships on March 3 at Upper Darby High School.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The Marple Newtown High School varsity cheerleaders have had a number of achievements this season–first with winning a bid to nationals in Orlando, FL, to reigning first in the area's high school cheer competitions such as Central Buck East Competition, Plymouth Whitemarsh Cheer Classic, and the Upper Darby Cheer Challenge. On Feb. 10-11, the squad competed against the top high school cheerleading programs in the nation in Orlando, FL, for the National High School Cheerleading Competition. Tiny Cheer Team 'Flames' Make a Big Explosion

The small-tiny level 1 all star squad won the annual Cheers for Charity Competition.

BROOMALL–The PA Spirit Explosion Flames, a small-tiny level 1 all star team recently made a big explosion at the annual Cheers for Charity Competition on Feb. 18 with a big win.  The division represented six gyms from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland. The event, which was held at the Chase Center in Wilmington, DE, played host to the best all star programs in the tri-state area.  The "tiny" squad is made up of 10 girls from ages 4-6. The girls practiced diligently for three hours per week at Spirit Explosion in Broomall. The team is the youngest of the 11 teams at the gym but performs with the talent and intensity of all the older teams. Three's a Charm, MNHS Cheerleaders Take Another Trophy

Marple Newtown High School varsity cheerleaders take home another first place trophy at the 9th Annual Wildcat Blue Devil Challenge at Villanova University on Jan. 21.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The Marple Newtown High School varsity cheerleaders won another first place trophy in the Medium Varsity Division at the 9th Annual Wildcat Blue Devil Challenge at Villanova University on Saturday, Jan. 21. This is the third week and competition in a row that the girls have won first place. The squad is getting pumped for Nationals in Florida that will take place Feb. 11 and 12.

MNHS Cheerleaders Add Another First Place Trophy to the Case

Marple Newtown High School varsity cheerleaders recently won first place in the Upper Darby Cheer Challenge Jan. 15.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The Marple Newtown High School varsity cheerleaders won another first place trophy in the Medium Varsity Division at the Upper Darby Cheer Challenge on Sunday, Jan. 15. The squad recently came out as grand champions in the Plymouth Whitemarsh Cheer Classic and won a bid to Nationals in Orlando, FL, which takes place in February.

Marple Newtown Cheerleaders Cheer Their Way to Nationals

The Marple Newtown High School varsity cheerleaders will travel to Orlando, FL, in February to compete in the National High School Cheerleading Championships.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The Marple Newtown High School varsity cheerleaders are ending the year on a positive note–the squad has earned a bid to Nationals once again. Heach coach Tricia Dyal will lead the group of girls and travel to Orlando, FL, come February to compete in the National High School Cheerleading Championships (NHSCC). Sponsored by the Universal Cheer Association, the competition is noted as the most prestigious cheerleading championship in the country–Nationals is the very pinnacle of competitive high school cheerleading. The squad has been coming back and restoring their name once more in the high school cheer world. The girls one a bid to Nationals this time last year. Champion Cheerleaders Teach Champ Camp

Marple Newtown Tigers Cheerleaders held their annual summer camp program from July 18 through July 21.

BROOMALL–Rah, rah, go team! It's time for Champ Camp again. Marple Newtown High School cheerleading held their annual, intensive three-day last week camp for aspiring cheerleaders. There were 46 girls from first to sixth grades enrolled in this year's camp, which was held at Paxon Hollow Middle School. Marple Newtown head cheerleading coach, Tricia Dyal, led the camp with the help of other coaches and parents who volunteered. Dyal said the most influential leaders at the camp, though, were the Tigers cheerleaders themselves, who ran the show and set up the daily program. "In a typical day, the girls would start with a warm-up and stretching, move onto different sessions of cheering, dance, tumbling and stunts," shared Dyal."Later in the …

Marple Newtown Coach of the Year: Tricia Dyal

Tricia Dyal, the head coach for the Marple Newtown High School cheerleading team, recently received the Vera Egner Award for MNHS Coach of the Year 2010-2011.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Her first official position as a cheerleading coach, Tricia Dyal recently received the Vera Egner Award for Marple Newtown High School's Coach of the Year for the 2010-2011 school year. "I was very surprised with the whole thing," recalled Dyal about receiving the recognition. She credits her large team of coaching staff for the squad's success. "Without them, the program wouldn't happen without them," she shared. In addition, she believes the high school administration staff from Principal Ray McFall to Athletic Director Dennis Reardon has been "incredibly supportive to grow the program where it's competitive." Marple Cheerleaders Make the Top 5

Marple Newtown put on a solid performance to round out the Central League Cheerleading Championship Feb. 26.

HAVERTOWN–Marple Newtown High School placed fifth in the Central League Cheerleading Championship on Saturday. They competed against nine other teams this year in the event, which was hosted this year by Haverford High School in Havertown. Marple Newtown went up against Haverford, Penncrest, Springfield, Strath Haven, Upper Darby, Ridley, Radnor, Garnet Valley and Conestoga. Upper Darby won both the junior varsity and varsity categories. For the junior varsity, Ridley placed second, and Springfield placed third. Varsity placed five teams, with Ridley in second, Haverford in third, Springfield in fourth and Marple rounding it out.
