Advertising Approved on MNHS Football Tickets

The Marple Newtown School Board recently approved the use of advertising on the back of Marple Newtown High School's football tickets.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Based off of recommendations provided by the Marple Newtown School District Community Budget Committee, the members of the Marple Newtown School Board approved the use of advertising on the back of this week's football game ticket. The Marple Newtown Tigers will host Lower Merion on Friday, Sept. 7. On the back of this week's game ticket, two advertisers will be displayed–including one from a Marple Newtown football alumni advertising mnenergy.org and another for a printing company in Havertown. A sample of the new tickets were presented by District Communications Coordinator Michael Larkin and Marple Newtown High School business and technology teacher Jessica Buechele. Marple Newtown School Board Passes 2012-13 Final Budget With 0% Tax Increase

The Marple Newtown School Board voted 7-1 at Tuesday night’s meeting in favor of the final budget with a 0 percent tax increase.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–As expected, Marple Newtown School Board officials approved the 2012-13 general fund budget for the district in the amount of $68.1 million, which is an approximately $1 million decrease from the preliminary budget. The budget included a tax increase of *0 percent. Last month, the board approved a reduction of its preliminary 2012-13 tax increase from 2.67 percent down to 0.62. The board voted 7-1 Tuesday night to pass the budget with School Board Vice President Nancy Galbraith holding the lone nay. School Board member Jamie Mariano was not present. Several recommendations were presented to the Marple Newtown School Board at Tuesday's Budget & Finance Committee meeting by the appointed Community Budget Committee.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–In part three of the five-part series of recommendations to the budget made by the Marple Newtown School Board appointed seven-member Community Budget Committee, is recommendations on activity fees for the district. The committee was formed in September and has been meeting monthly since then to review the district's budget and to analyze revenues and costs of district operations. Committee member Jim Lanzalotto urged the school board to communicate more openly with the public about the limitations they are faced with in the budget due to state mandates. Several recommendations were presented to the Marple Newtown School Board at Tuesday's Budget & Finance Committee meeting by the appointed Community Budget Committee.
