Marple Newtown School District has announced the resignation of Marple Newtown High School Principal Ray McFall and his new position as assistant executive director of the Delaware County Intermediate Unit.
NEWTOWN SQUARE–Marple Newtown Superintendent of Schools Merle Horowitz recently announced the resignation of Marple Newtown High School Principal Ray McFall and his new position as assistant executive director of the Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU). Effective Feb. 4, McFall will join the staff and administrators at the DCIU in Morton. The financial crisis of the Chester Upland School District is paying a toll on the Delaware County Intermediate Unit, which offers programs at several schools and education centers including those in Marple Township.
NEWTOWN SQUARE–Nancy Galbraith, vice president of the Marple Newtown School Board and vice president of the Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU), announced at a school board meeting on Jan. 24 that the DCIU has also entered into the same litigation that was filed by the Chester Upland School District against the Pennsylvania Department of Education for failing to provide educational funding to the district. "We have joined into that lawsuit in order to get back that money that is owed by the Chester Upland School District for special ed, technical, and other services that we provide," explained Galbraith. MEDIA–A new youth leadership initiative called MY LIFE (Magellan Youth Leaders Inspiring Future Empowerment) is helping Delaware County teenagers who face mental health, substance abuse, foster care and juvenile justice challenges to make positive changes in their lives. MY LIFE Delco is sponsored by the Delaware County Office of Behavioral Health (OBH) and Magellan Behavioral Health of Pennsylvania. Behavioral health issues impact people of all ages, but they are particularly difficult for teenagers making that tough transition to adulthood. Through monthly meetings, workshops and activities, a group of 25 to 30 youth, ages 13 to 23, are trying to come to terms with serious issues impacting their lives.
