Delaware County Veterans Memorial Dedicated

First US Secretary of Homeland Security, former Pa. Governor and Veteran Tom Ridge speaks on moving freedom forward.

Delaware County's Veterans Memorial in Newtown Square was dedicated and honored in a ceremony Saturday amongst hundreds of people. Several people spoke and were thanked during the ceremony including former Pa. Gov. Tom Ridge, Pa. Gov. Tom Corbett, U.S. Congressman Pat Meehan, Vice Chairman of Delaware County Council Mario Civera, DVCMA Founding Member Linda Houldin and landowner and major donor Claude de Botton. The Delaware County Veterans Memorial is located off of West Chester Pike/Route 3 and Alice Grim Blvd. in Newtown Square, Edgmont Township.

Expect Traffic Delays on West Chester Pike Saturday

The dedication of the Delaware County Veterans Memorial in Newtown Square is expected to cause traffic delays Saturday morning.

The Delaware County Veterans Memorial in Newtown Square will be dedicated in a ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Traffic delays are expected along West Chester Pike in Newtown Square.  Detours will begin at 9:30 a.m. and be removed at about 1:30 p.m. The westbound lanes of West Chester Pike will be closed between Campus Boulevard and the border with Edgmont Township and westbound traffic will be diverted onto the eastbound side of West Chester Pike, according to the Newtown Township website. Both east and west bound traffic will occupy a single lane in each direction on the eastbound side of the pike. Click here for more information about the dedication ceremony.

Delco Vets Memorial Dedication Set for Saturday

The Delaware County Veterans Memorial dedication in Newtown Square will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Construction Continues at Delco Vets Memorial

Crews continue to work on the Delaware County Veterans Memorial in Newtown Township.

Work on the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association's (DCVMA) $1.5 million memorial project continues at Alice Grim Boulevard in Newtown Square. Patch grabbed a quick clip of crews working on the memorial earlier this week. The memorial is expected to be completed in May with a grand opening ceremony to be held May 11.

Grand Opening For Delco Vets Memorial Announced

The grand opening date has been set for May 11 and guest speakers have been announced for the Newtown Square-based Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association has announced their grand opening date of May 11 for their memorial honoring past, present, and future Delco veterans. Another Waiver Received For Delco Vets Memorial Association

Newtown Township Board of Supervisors recently approved a waiver requested by the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association located in Newtown Square.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association's (DCVMA) received another waiver request on erosion and sedimentation, and building permit fees for the memorial located on West Chester Pike/Rt. 3 and Alice Grim Boulevard in Newtown Square. The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors gave the approval at the last supervisors meeting on Jan. 28.  In October of last year, supervisors granted approval for another waiver request and determined that the township would waive any fees dependent on the third-party's contractor. "We were okay with not charging anything, just as long as the township was not charged anything," said Catania at the last supervisors meeting. Waiver Approved For Delco Vets Memorial Building Permit Fees

The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors approved to authorize a Stop Work Order on the memorial briefly until further detailed documentation was provided to the township in regards to the construction and materials for the memorial.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Over 30 veterans attended Monday night's supervisors meeting in an effort to show support of the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association's (DCVMA) waiver request on building permit fees for the memorial located on West Chester Pike/Rt. 3 and Alice Grim Boulevard in Newtown Square. At a supervisors meeting earlier this month, Newtown officials approved to authorize a Stop Work Order on the memorial briefly until further detailed documentation was provided to the township in regards to the construction and materials for the memorial. Newtown To Issue Stop Work Order To Delco Vets Memorial

A Stop Work Order was authorized by Newtown Township officials at the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Associate at a supervisors meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 10.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association (DCVMA) may see itself ceasing operations sooner than expected until they heed to Newtown Township's request to present detailed paper work on the construction of the memorial.  At a supervisors meeting on Tuesday night, the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors authorized Township Manager Mike Trio to issue a Stop Work Order to the DCVMA on the the memorial site located at Alice Grim Boulevard and West Chester Pike/Route 3 in Newtown Square.  According to Trio, verbal communication was given to Guy Fizzano, president of the DCVMA Board, to attend Tuesday's meeting to present to the supervisors with their request for waiver of required building permit fees as regulated by the…

Delco Vets Memorial Offering Education Programs

The Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association has announced they will be offering educational programs at the soon-to-be veterans memorial in Newtown Square.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association's (DCVMA) $1.5 million memorial project is underway on Alice Grim Boulevard in Newtown Square, and the association is already looking forward to offering educational programs. Though the memorial is set for completion with a grand opening and dedication ceremony on May 11, 2013, the Education Board of the DCVMA is eager to start developing a few education programs. According to Barbara Ann Zippi, a member of the Education Board, education tours to the memorial is slated to start in the fall of 2013. Aqua Hosts Summit Meeting For Delco Veterans Memorial

Delaware County Veterans Memorial Associate holds summit and seeks continuing community and corporate support.

BRYN MAWR–On Feb. 21, Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association (DCVMA) Chairman Nick DeBenedictis of Aqua America, Inc., along with Delaware County Councilman Mario Civera and Rep. Nick Miccarelli (R-162), co-hosted an invitation-only summit meeting for local CEOs, representatives from various charitable organizations, educators, and political and community leaders.  The event took place at Aqua’s headquarters in Bryn Mawr. Also in attendance were DCVMA President Guy Fizzano, who served in the US Army and is co-owner of Fizzano Brothers Concrete Products, the memorial’s founding member Linda Houldin, and land donor and contributor Claude de Botton.   The guests joined together to learn about what will be one of the country’s most …
