GOP Sweep Marple Newtown School Board Race

Five republican candidates for the Marple Newtown School District race take all five seats on the school board.

Eight candidates–five republicans, three democrats–vied for five seats on Marple Newtown School District's School Board of Directors on Tuesday's election. The five republicants, which included incumbents Richard Sokorai and Fred Dewey along with newcomers Jamie Mariano, Sherry-Lee McAuliffe and Robert Sack, took the win for the five, four-year term seats on the School Board. Marple Township Republican Committee Chairman Pat Larkin addressed the endorsed candidates on election night with a congratulatory speech. "We banded together like we always do," said Larkin. No Surprises in Marple and Newtown Municipal Races

Both Marple and Newtown municipal races were uncontested in Nov. 8th's election, leaving no surprises in this year's election.

The unofficial results of Tuesday's election provided no surprises for Marple and Newtown townships' municipal races. Marple Township Board of Commissioners incumbents 7th Ward Commissioner Dan Leefson and 5th Ward Commissioner John Longacre were re-elected to their seats, while newcomers Joe Rufo for 1st Ward and Robert Fortebuono for 3rd ward will replace Trudy Riddell and Jim Balk, respectively, the only two democrats on the Board. Magisterial District Judge 32-1-24 Republican incumbent Robert D'Agostino was voted in for another six-year term. Newtown Township Supervisor Ed Partridge ousted Supervisor Linda Houldin in the May primaries, in which the race for a six-year seat on the Board was left uncontested in Tuesday's election. John …

Exemplary is not the word that comes to my mind. And by the results of the election where Houldin lost in a landslide, that word doesn't come to many others either. While I thank any citizen for taking on the responsibility to be on the Board, her well known agendas were not serving us well.   more ›
