Grocery Delivery Service Comes to Broomall

Peapod began delivering groceries in the area on Sept. 30.

BROOMALL–Peapod, an online subsidiary of GIANT that delivers groceries to users' doorsteps, expanded its operation to Marple and Newtown townships on Sept. 30. It works like this: by logging onto www.peapod.com, users can order items from GIANT supermarkets for delivery the following day. First time Peapod users will be asked to enter a valid email address and zip code. After placing a minimum order of $60 (you can search items by brand name, product type, recipe, or by special deals), users select a two-hour window for delivery time for the following day before entering their home address and specific delivery instructions. The service is free for the first 60 days, after which it costs $9.95 for orders under $100 and $7.95 for orders …

Residents Flock to Grocery Stores To Stock Up For Snowstorm

The first large winter storm of the season, locals are picking up bare essentials at the supermarket for the expected heavy snowfall today and tomorrow.

Broomall–Now that the holidays are over, many residents are looking at an empty pantry and running to their local grocery store. To make matters worse, the expected eight to 12 inches of snowfall yesterday and today to come are causing more people to run to the supermarket for bare essentials like milk, eggs and bread. At Giant Food Stores in Broomall, Autumn Kanty, an employee at the supermarket said it's been "very busy" since they opened yesterday at 6 a.m. but quickly had to cut the conversation short due to a long line of customers. The store hit a peak at about 10 a.m. yesterday. Laura Coakley of Acme Markets in Newtown Square also share that they've been busy since they opened at 6 a.m. yesterday. Coakley assured their …
