Teens brave heat and rain to raise money for local homeless shelter.
HAVERTOWN–A small group of local teens braved the heat and rain on Friday night as they attempted to sleep outside in a “box city” to bring awareness to the homeless issue in Delaware County. “While their numbers may have been small, they had a big message—the homeless need our help,” said Dolores Littleton, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Havertown, whose church sponsored the youth group activity. This is the second year that the youth group has done this to raise money for homeless programs. Members of the Marple Newtown High School football team got together on June 11 to help the Hunger Committee at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church make and deliver food.
BRYN MAWR–On their last Saturday before school ended for summer break, about 20 high school students from the Marple Newtown football team came together at promptly 8:30 a.m. to school, but this time they weren't the ones receiving but the ones giving–casseroles to be exact. But it was more than the casseroles that the students gave. On June 11, the football team carpooled to Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, where they proceeded to begin an all-day project cooking, cleaning and serving to the hungry and homeless of Philadelphia.
