Some Marple Newtown residents will see a trash and leaf pickup collection change on Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23.
Both Marple and Newtown municipal buildings will be closed on Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving. Below is a trash and leaf pickup schedule for Marple Newtown during the Thanksgiving holiday: Marple Township—Administrative offices will be closed both Thursday and Friday. Trash and leaves will not be collected on both of these days. Residents on a Monday and Thursday schedule will only have trash collected on Monday this week. Residents on a Tuesday and Friday schedule will only have trash collected on Tuesday this week. Recycling should not be affected as collection is on Wednesdays. Leaves will not be collected in Marple Township on Monday, Veterans Day, but the collection schedule will continue on Tuesday for residents living in wards 1, 2, 3, and 4. Marple Township announced trash collection will occur on Election Day and more debris collection dates.
BROOMALL–The following information was provided by Marple Township Manager Anthony Hamaday on Monday, Nov. 5. Marple township will be collecting trash on Election Day, Nov 6th. This is a result of the Delaware County Transfer Station being open for business. This is a one-time deviation from the yearly collection schedule posted on the township trash bills. This will be a normal Tuesday trash collection day. To assist with the clean up from Hurricane Sandy, Marple Township will collect torm debris and yard waste curbside for residents, township-wide, on the following days: Nov 8, 9, 10, 15, and 16. Both Marple and Newtown townships will resume back to the normal leaf collection schedule starting Monday.
As residents across the Delaware Valley resume their daily lives and pick up the pieces post Hurricane Sandy, Marple and Newtown townships will also resume their normal leaf collection schedules on Monday. Though Marple township did send out limited trash collection crews last Monday and Tuesday during the storm in order to prevent potential storm sewer blockages, the normal leaf collection schedule will resume on Monday. It's that time of the year again when leaves are turning its autumn hues, only to fall and pile high in your yard. It's time to get those rakes out, both Marple and Newtown townships have announced their 2011 leaf collection schedule and have already started collecting bags of leaves since last week. In Marple, all leaves should be placed a the curb. Any excess leaves should be placed in recyclable paper bags for pick-up. Recyclable paper bags are available at the township building with a cap of 10 bags per household.
