Morning commuters in the Marple Newtown area may want to give themselves ample time in the morning this week. According to a press release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), state highways in Delaware County–including Marple, Newtown, Haverford, Radnor and Springfield townships–will see slow-moving vehicles as part of a line painting operation. PennDOT advises drivers to give these trucks appropriate distance and to stay off the traffic lines. Painting will occur from 6 am. to 2:30 p.m. through Sept. 1.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) recently announced that there will lane restrictions in the northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 476 in Marple Township. According to PennDOT, the lane restrictions will be in effect from Monday, March 5 through Friday, March 9. Repairs will be made during this time for Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) installation from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to PennDOT. Lane restrictions will occur between Interstate 95 and Route 30 off of the Blue Route. Residents around the border of Marple and Upper Providence townships of State Road may experience a bit of change on their commutes as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has declared to close a portion of State Road for several months. The road closure will be between Marple Woods Drive and Crum Creek Road off of State Road in Marple and begin March 22.
