Melmark's Mansion Expansion Gets OK From Supervisors

Melmark's application for three conditional uses were approved by Newtown Township Board of Supervisors on Nov. 26.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors unanimously approved three conditional uses for Melmark, Inc., located at 2600 Wayland Road, Berwyn, in Newtown Township, on Monday night. Melmark received approval from the supervisors on amendments to the existing conditional uses in the current R-1 Residential District and uses permitted in steep slopes of the following: In addition, supervisors unanimously approved the preliminary land development as submitted by Melmark on Monday night.  Included in Melmark's land development plan is expanding the existing mansion with 21,000 square feet additional space in the rear of the building that will house a conference room, office space, two classrooms, and additional living spaces. Supervisors Unanimously Approve Conditional Use Application for Dixon Homes Properties

Newtown Township Board of Supervisors approved Dixon Homes' request for approval for conditional use on lots 8 and 9 on Philips Lane Nov. 28.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Dixon Homes LLC has put forth their conditional use application for a pair of properties on Philips Lane but this time it went before the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors for approval on Monday night. The application had previously been approved by the Planning Commission at an August meeting, in which the Commission stressed that there was a deed restriction to prevent any further subdivision of the lot. The application calls for conditional use in regards to the township's Steep Slope Ordinance to allow an individual driveway to a proposed single-family detached dwelling throught steep and very steep slopes on lots 8 and 9 of Philips Lane on the Dixon Homes property. Supervisors Hold Off Plan Approval for Rite Aid

Newtown Township supervisors approved the continuance of Rite Aid Pharmacy's preliminary final land development plan approval hearing at a supervisors meeting on Oct. 24.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–A proposal to construct a Rite Aid Pharmacy at the old Videon Chevrolet car dealership off of Route 3/West Chester Pike and St. Albans Avenue in Newtown Square was submitted to Newtown Township Planning Commission earlier this summer and now sits at the helm of the Board of Supervisors' approval. The preliminary/final land development plan approval for the proposed Rite Aid went before the supervisors on Monday night, in which it was decided that the presentation of the plan be continued to the next meeting due to a few concerns made by the board. Commissioners Table Design Plans for Emergency Services Facilities

BROOMALL–Even though the tone of the July 11 Marple Township Board of Commissioner's meeting indicated otherwise, careful consideration was the name of the game. The light-hearted atmosphere probably had something to do with Wawa coffee.  Prior to decisions and indecisions, the Board of Commissioners began the meeting recognizing the Wawa Broomall branch's 45th anniversary, which included a short proclamation and free coffee for those in attendance. After the light-hearted festivities ended, however, the board tackled a lengthy agenda, spending a majority of their time on an update for reimbursement for the proposed Emergency Services Facilities building. Rite Aid Pharmacy Submits Application For Location in Newtown Square

Rite Aid Pharmacy submitted a preliminary/final plan review to the Newtown Planning Commission on June 23.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–At the last Planning Commission meeting, Rite Aid Pharmacy presented their preliminary/final plan review application to Newtown Township planners on June 23.   The proposed location for the pharmacy is at the former Videon Chevrolet car dealership on the northeast corner of West Chester Pike/Route 3 and St. Albans Avenue, in which the rear of the property sits on Rhoads Avenue. The application proposes to demolish the existing car dealership and construct a 14,673-square-foot pharmacy with a drive-thru. According to Gregg Adelman of Kaplin Stewart, representing Rite Aid Pharmacy, the site is entirely paved and had an impervious surface area of 95 percent. Board Approves Veterans Memorial With Several Conditions

Parking was one of the main concerns that was addressed by the board on March 14.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–A unanimous decision was made among the Newtown Board of Supervisors for the approval of the proposed veterans memorial off of West Chester Pike/Route 3 and Alice Grim Boulevard with a few conditions, including parking concerns on March 14. Mark D'Amico, representing the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association in Newtown Square, a non-profit organization, addressed that the association has a long-term lease with the property owner and a written parking arrangement between the two parties was signed to provide parking for that development.
