Three resignations and two appointments were announced on Newtown Township's Zoning Hearing Board on Monday night.
NEWTOWN SQUARE–Three Zoning Hearing Board resignations and two appointments were announced at Monday night's Newtown Township Board of Supervisors meeting. David DiPasqua resigned as chairman of the Newtown Township Zoning Hearing Board to become the board's solicitor, according to Supervisors Chairman Joe Catania. DiPasqua's term ends on Dec. 31, 2015. In addition, Zoning Hearing Board members Anne Stulpin and Richard Carpenter have submitted their resignations which were approved by the supervisors on Monday night. Stulpin's term ends on Dec. 31, 2013, while Carpenter's term ends on Dec. 31, 2014. David McGinley, a longtime Marple Newtown School Board director, resigned on Tuesday.
NEWTOWN SQUARE–Only a few weeks after the resignations of former school board directors Fred Dewey and Jamie Mariano, longtime school board director and former Marple Newtown School Board President David McGinley submitted his letter of resignation at Tuesday night's special school board meeting. McGinley, who was absent from Tuesday's meeting, was on his eighth year serving as a school board director for the Marple Newtown School District. McGinley served for several years as the board's president. McGinley's resignation is effective Feb. 13. Newtown Township supervisors accepted the resignation of Newtown Police Chief Dennis Anderson and appointed Lt. Chris Lunn as acting chief on Monday night.
NEWTOWN SQUARE–The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors announce Monday night the resignation of Newtown Police Chief Dennis Anderson. The township's insurance company and Anderson reached a $175,000 settlement agreement on the matter. Lt. Chris Lunn was also appointed Monday night as the acting police chief. NEWTOWN SQUARE–The saga between Newtown Police Chief Dennis Anderson and Newtown Township officially came to an end on Monday evening at a Board of Supervisors meeting. The supervisors unanimously accepted the resignation of Dennis Anderson at Monday's meeting and appointed Lt. Chris Lunn as the acting chief of the Newtown Township Police Department. "As many of you know, Chief Anderson has not been acting as chief for at least since May 22nd," said Supervisors Chairman Joseph Catania. After five and a half years on the Marple Newtown School Board, member Richard Sokorai has officially submitted his resignation.
NEWTOWN SQUARE–Richard Sokorai has been a Marple Newtown Board of School Director since October of 2006 but, as of last week, Sokorai submitted his official letter of resignation from the board. Sokorai, who ran in the school board election last year in a contested race among eight candidates vying for five, four-year seats, won re-election in the November 2011 election. Sokorai's official resignation was publicized in the Delaware County Times last Friday, June 8, in which the school board will officially accept the resignation letter at the next board meeting on June 26. PHILADELPHIA–Following a year of great transition for Archdiocese of Philadelphia's Catholic schools, superintendent Mary E. Rochford announced her resignation at year's end. "It has been my privilege to serve in the ministry of Catholic education for almost 40 years. A long time ago, when I was very young, a wise woman religious told me, 'Remember, you are only a useless servant.' I have kept that in mind and worked as diligently as I could for the sake of the children and now I leave for the sake of my family," she said in a statement released by the archdiocese.
