Vendors Needed For 1st Annual MNHS Arts & Crafts Fair

The arts & crafts fair at Marple Newtown High School will benefit the Student Sunshine Scholarship Fund.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Marple Newtown High School is holding its first-ever arts & crafts fair to benefit a student scholarship fund. The fair is currently in need of vendors. Below is the information provided from the district website: The Student Sunshine Scholarship Fund of Marple Newtown High School is sponsoring their 1st Annual Arts & Crafts Fair. This scholarship Fund will provide for students in our building who may be facing a financial hardship. We want ALL of our students to have the best experience possible by participating in all we have to offer. Whether a student wishes to buy a yearbook, go to a school dance, go on a field trip, join in on our LINK weekend, show sportsmanship on the athletic fields and more, will no longer be …

Marple Newtown Scholarship Offered In Honor Of Alumni Jeffrey Zaslow

Jeffrey Zaslow's family has offered to create a scholarship for students at Marple Newtown High School.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–In light of the recent death of Marple Newtown High School alumni and best-selling author Jeffrey Zaslow in February, a scholarship has been created to Marple Newtown students by Zaslow's family. Zaslow, 53, a native of Broomall, was a resident of West Bloomfield, MI, who co-wrote The Last Lecture and was also known as a Wall Street journalist, died on the morning of Feb. 10 in an auto accident in northern Michigan. Marple Newtown school officials unanimously approved, 8-0, the establishment of the Jeffrey Zaslow Scholarship Fund at a school board meeting on Tuesday. According to Superintendent Merle Horowitz, Zaslow's parents, who now reside in Florida, contacted the district to establish a scholarship fund for Marple …

Thom Williams: Teacher, Poet, Renegade Rock Star

Death of beloved Marple Newtown High School mentor and friend inspires heartfelt tributes and memorial scholarship.

Newtown Square–"To teach is to touch a life forever,"  says the Hallmark cards, the coffee mugs and the inspirational framed wall hangings. It's a platitude at risk of becoming more saccharine with every utterance or would be, if not for remarkable teachers like Thom Williams. The Marple Newtown School District legend didn't just touch the lives of countless students over his 35-year teaching career, he shaped them dramatically and unforgettably, maintaining friendships and influence long after students left his classroom.
