A Marple Newtown High School senior surprised his friend at Panera Bread with a song and dance prom proposal.
BROOMALL–It appears as though the students at Marple Newtown High School are getting more creative each year as prom time rolls around. You remember last year's sweet viral video of then Marple Newtown senior Wil Kauffman, who surprised his girlfriend during AP Physics class with a song and dance prom proposal. But, this year, Marple Newtown senior Evan Ronen recently surprised his friend Lauren Thomas, who was dining with Morgan Constantino, at Panera Bread with his own surprise prom proposal. The five high school seniors–Anthony Rosanio, Joe Vegso, Craig Hamilton, Brendan Morrow, and Ronen–walk into Panera Bread–clad in collared shirts, bowties, and ties–each with a letter taped to the back of their shirts. BROOMALL–On Saturday, June 9, the Marple Sports Arena in Broomall was transformed into the "Marple Newtown Station" for the 2012 BreakFest After Prom. Earlier that evening, the Marple Newtown Class of 2012 held their senior prom at Drexelbrook. This was followed by the post prom held this year at Marple Sports Arena. An annual tradition brought together by high school senior parents, a BreakFest After Prom Committee is formed at the beginning of each school year. Parents plan and brainstorm a theme for the post prom party. Last year, the parents created a Jersey Shore post prom party at the Upper Main Line YMCA. NEWTOWN SQUARE–On Saturday, June 9, Marple Newtown High School senior Wil Kauffman finally took "his girl" to prom, which was held at Drexelbrook Banquet Facilities. On March 9, Kauffman performed a surprise prom proposal with 10 of his buddies to his girlfriend Megan Weinberg during Julie McFarlane's first period AP Physics class. Kauffman wore a pair of sunglasses and sang "My Girl" in a capella style with his 10 friends. Kauffman–with flowers in hand–dropped down to one knee and asked Weinberg to prom. Her obvious answer: "yes." Kauffman's YouTube prom proposal video went viral, tipping off local radio station Philly's B101 who interviewed Kauffman about the surprise proposal. NEWTOWN SQUARE–Who knew Marple Newtown High School senior's surprise prom proposal would go viral on YouTube? The senior's prom proposal was also picked up by local radio station B101. The radio station's morning crew interviews high school senior Wil Kaufman about how the prom proposal went down. Tiffany Hill and Michael Chew of the B101 morning crew described Kaufman's prom proposal as "very impressive." When asked if he was nervous about the proposal, Kaufman said, "Not really." Kaufman, who isn't shy with the camera, has had his share of the limelight. Kaufman is a member of the Marple Newtown Drama Department and performs regularly for the school's musicals. NEWTOWN SQUARE–Prom season is in full swing at Marple Newtown High School. You've heard of surprise engagement proposals but what about surprise prom proposals? At 8 a.m. on Friday, March 9, that's what Marple Newtown senior Wil Kauffman did with 10 of his buddies. During Julie McFarlane's first period AP Physics class, Kauffman received approval–along with 10 of his friends–to pop the prom question to girlfriend Megan Weinberg. Sauntering in with shades and snapping their fingers and singing to "My Girl" in a capella style, Kauffman–with flowers in hand–sings the harmony to the song and drops down on one knee to ask Weinberg to prom.
