The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce will establish the checkpoints Thanksgiving week.
According to a press release to the media, the Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce will conduct DUI checkpoints the week of November 19 within Springfield Township. The press release was issued by the Haverford Township Police Department on November 16 and did not indicate at what times and locations the checkpoints will take place. The DUI Taskforce includes four other municipalities—Haverford, Marple, Newtown, and Radnor. It has been in operation since September 2009, during which time it has conducted 36 operations. The taskforce has made 79 arrests for DUI, issued 29 citations for underage drinking, and written over 900 additional citations and warnings for other offenses. Some Marple Newtown residents will see a trash and leaf pickup collection change on Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23.
Both Marple and Newtown municipal buildings will be closed on Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving. Below is a trash and leaf pickup schedule for Marple Newtown during the Thanksgiving holiday: Marple Township—Administrative offices will be closed both Thursday and Friday. Trash and leaves will not be collected on both of these days. Residents on a Monday and Thursday schedule will only have trash collected on Monday this week.
