$8,000 in Jewelry Stolen from Home, Police Say

Also, items were taken from inside two vehicles parked outside a residence, in a separate incident, police say.

The following information was supplied by Newtown Township Police. Any arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate guilt or conviction. Theft—Unit block of Harrison Drive at about 10:31 a.m. on  Feb. 23. Several items from the victim's jewelry collection had been stolen, according to police. The victim discovered the items were missing on Feb. 20 and waited to report to police because she wanted to check her entire house for the jewelry before filing a report, according to police. The woman told police she recalled wearing the jewelry on Feb. 2 but suspected the jewelry was stolen while she and her husband were out of town between Feb. 12 and 19. Sewing Machine, $400 Worth of Baby Clothing, iPad Stolen

The following items were recently stolen from local businesses and schools.

BROOMALL–On Feb. 14 at approximately 11 a.m., Marple police received a call from an employee at JoAnn Fabrics for a reported stolen sewing machine. According to the report, the sewing machine was stolen sometime in the last 24 hours. The Singer sewing machine was valued at $269.99. According to the report, the employee believes all the sewing machines were there the day before. On Feb. 11 at approximately 6:50 p.m., police responded to the Old Navy in the Marple Crossroads Shopping Center for a reported theft. Upon arrival, police spoke with the store officer who told police that four women had placed baby clothing in three different bags that they brought inside the store with them. Legos Stolen, Alleged Violent Shoplifter Handcuffed and More at Walmart

A handful of thefts have occurred at the Marple Walmart in February.

SPRINGFIELD–On Feb. 19 at approximately 11:40 a.m., Marple police responded to the Walmart in the Marple Crossroads Shopping Center for a reported theft. According to the report, the store officer reported that she observed a woman walk into the store and proceed to the pet department. The woman then selected various items and went to the customer service counter to attempt to return the items. According to the report, the customer service representative refused the return item because the woman did not have the receipt. The woman then went back into the store and selected more items into a shopping cart. The woman then proceeded to a checkout register and paid for several gray plastic Totes. Jewelry Stolen From Home (Again) on Warren Blvd.

A resident on Warren Blvd. in Broomall reported jewelry stolen from their home–the second time in a week.

BROOMALL–On Feb. 1 at approximately 1:10 p.m., Marple police responded to the 400 block of Warren Blvd. for a reported theft from a home. According to the report, this is the second time a theft from the home was reported. According to the report, one of the residents reported that at least four jewelry pieces were stolen from her bedroom. On Jan. 27, the resident’s mother reported a large amount of her jewelry missing from the master bedroom area of the home. According to the report, the only person who did not have jewelry missing is the resident’s sister. Blotter: Thefts From Cars, Leary's Florist, Home Depot, More

BROOMALL–On Nov. 29 at approximately 6:50 a.m., Marple police responded to the Walmart in the Marple Crossroads Shopping Center for a reported theft. Upon arrival, police spoke to the loss prevention supervisor who told police that they had two employees in custody for stealing merchandise from the store. According to the supervisor, both incidents were separate and neither employee knew about the other’s theft. One employee had allegedly stolen $423.82 worth of merchandise from the store, while another employee had allegedly stolen $919.83 worth of merchandise from the store, according to the report. BROOMALL–On Nov. 15 at approximately 7:54 p.m., Marple police responded to Walmart at the Marple Crossroads Shopping Center for a reported retail theft. Upon arrival, police met with the store asset protection officer who stated that a man had selected several sale items in the hardware department, walked into the stationary department and cut items out of their packaging with a small pair of wire cutters and placed them inside his coat pocket. The man then passed all the registers and exited the building without paying for any of those items. When police spoke with the man, the man admitted to the theft and said he had one prior retail theft that he had pled guilty to and a second retail theft still pending. The total amount of items …

NEWTOWN SQUARE–On Nov. 7 at approximately 5:40 p.m., Newtown police responded to Alice Grim Boulevard for a reported theft. According to the report, a tree stand was stolen from the property earlier that day. Police met with the complainant–who has permission to hunt in the area of Alice Grim Boulevard–and a member of the Game Commission at the Edgmont Shopping Center. The complainant told police that he owned a gray Timber Tall tree stand and left it beside a tree earlier in the day while he went to lunch and found it gone when he returned. The stand was a self-contained unit with no ladder and used a strap that wraps to the tree, allowing the hunter to climb using the stand and converting to a seat once at the desired height, according …

BROOMALL–On Oct. 31 at approximately 2:40 p.m., Marple police responded to Delaware County Community College for a reported theft. According to the report, a brown Louis Vuitton purse, valued at approximately $700, was stolen. Inside the purse contained a woman’s wallet, $10, one debit card, a driver’s license, a school ID, and other miscellaneous cards. The woman told police she believes the purse was stolen while waiting in a classroom for her last class that was canceled. Police are further investigating this incident. Blotter: 2 Women Arrested in Panera Bread Thefts

BROOMALL–Two Philadelphia women were arrested on Oct. 12 for thefts that occurred at Panera Bread in the Lawrence Park Shopping Center. Marple police responded to Panera Bread after receiving information that the two women allegedly involved in the thefts were being followed by store employees. Upon arrival, police received information from the restaurant manager that one woman was spotted dumping items behind Five Guys Burgers & Fries restaurant. Police were able to catch up with the woman, in which a restaurant employee was able to positively identify her as one of the women involved in the thefts earlier that day, according to the report. The woman, a 52-year-old woman from Philadelphia, was arrested and charged with two counts of Theft…

Blotter: Pumpkins, Copper Tubing, iPhone, and More Stolen

BROOMALL–On Oct. 16 at approximately 11 a.m., Marple police responded to National Developers on Parkway Boulevard for a reported theft. Upon arrival, police spoke with the property owners who reported that copper tubing from seven air conditioner compressors at 780, 797, and 798 Sussex Boulevard were stolen sometime over the weekend. According to the report, the tubing had been crimped and cut. Seven out of the nine air conditioner compressors from Satellite 5 were involved, according to the report. The approximate cost to replace the tubing is valued around $1,700. Police are further investigating this incident. On Oct. 15 at approximately 4:30 p.m., police received a report of a theft at a home on the 300 block of Sussex Boulevard. …
