A Wayne man was arrested and charged in connection with breaking windows at a Newtown Square business, vandalizing the property and stealing a magazine, according to Newtown Township Police. Matthew Tucker, 22, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief, burglary, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct at about 3:38 a.m. on April 16, according to the report. NEWTOWN SQUARE–Newtown Township Police Chief Chris Lunn sent an email alert to residents in Newtown Township on Monday regarding vandalism of Christmas lights. According to Lunn, in the last two weeks, a resident of Roberts Road has been the victim of criminal mischief to their outdoor Christmas lights on two different nights. Video of two subjects was captured on a home video surveillance system showing one of the incidents on Jan. 12 at 2:59 a.m., according to Lunn. Anyone who can provide any further information about these incidents is asked to contact the Newtown Township Police Department at 610-356-0602. BROOMALL–On Dec. 12 at approximately 12:10 p.m., Marple police responded to Cardinal O’Hara High School for a reported vandalism incident. According to the report, police made contact with the complainant who stated the Football Press Box had graffiti spraypainted on it. Police observed the words “slutz” and “flat ass’s” spraypainted on the front side of the press box facing the field. An image was also spraypainted on the press box, according to the report. BROOMALL–On Nov. 12 at approximately 9:40 a.m., Marple police responded to Russell Elementary School where a custodian reported that sometime over the weekend, someone had damaged the screens in the ground-level windows facing the S. New Ardmore Avenue playground. According to the report, the screens were peeled back but no entry or attempted entry appeared to be made. Approximately 10 screens were damaged and all windows were secure with no apparent attempt to enter the building as there were no signs of tampering with the locking mechanism, according to the report. BROOMALL–On Oct. 2 at approximately 5:40 p.m., Marple police responded to the 300 block of Columbia Place for a reported vandalism incident. According to the report, a neighbor called police to report that someone had attempted to enter an abandoned house at 314 Columbia Place. According to the report, the garbage can was under the window and part of the window frame had appeared to be broken off. The house has been in foreclosure for a year, according to police. During an investigation, an appraiser arrived on scene and told police another appraiser may have been at the home earlier that day, according to the report. Marple Township officials discuss the recent increasing acts of vandalism that has occurred at Veterans Memorial Park in Broomall at a Board of Commissioners meeting on Oct. 1.
BROOMALL–Recent damages that occurred at Veterans Memorial Park in Broomall were brought up at Monday night's Marple Township Board of Commissioners meeting. In late August, a group of eight teenagers rampaged through the park, destroying trees, benches and more during a late-night underage drinking party at the park, reports the the Delco News Network. "It's a really beautiful park and it's very hurtful to come out to it and see beer cans, destroyed property and to see the tree that you've been taken care of for years totally destroyed," stated Neil Lipson, a member of the Marple Township Tree Commission before the commissioners at Monday night's meeting. BROOMALL–On Sept. 5 at approximately 12:35 p.m., a man came into the Marple police station to report damage to his vehicle, which occurred the day before in the Home Depot parking lot around 12 p.m. The man told police after he exited the store, he noticed damage to his Honda Accord, which was parked in a parking spot. According to the man, he told police he was parked towards the end of the aisle, which is in front of the contractor’s exit. The damage consisted of multiple dents to the right side, a smashed passenger’s side mirror and damage to the hood.
