Newtown Township's Act 537 Sanitary Sewer Facilities Plan is now available for public inspection until Nov. 16.
NEWTOWN SQUARE–The long-awaited Newtown Township Act 537 Sanitary Sewer Facilities Plan is now available for public inspection at the municipal building and the Newtown Public Library until Nov. 16. Two copies of the 2,000-page plan will be available at the municipal building and one copy at the library. The document includes the plan in its entirety as well as residents' surveys and responses. Residents may be able to purchase a copy of the plan, in which a cost price was not determined at last Tuesday's supervisors meeting. Newtown's sanitary sewer enforcement officer James MacCombie presented an update of the township's Act 537 planning module at a supervisors meeting on Aug. 13.
NEWTOWN SQUARE–James MacCombie, Newtown Township's sanitary sewer enforcement officer, of Herbert E. MacCombie Jr., P.E., Consulting Engineers and Surveyors, Inc., presented the Board of Supervisors and the public with an updated sewer planning module for the Act 537 Plan. MacCombie was hired by the township last August as a third-party engineer to review the final draft of the Act 537 Plan. A new plan of study for the Act 537 Plan was submitted by MacCombie in early January. According to MacCombie, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) gave approval for the township to move ahead with developing a new sewer plan for the township in February. NEWTOWN SQUARE–Mike Trio, Newtown Township manager, provided the Board of Supervisors with a brief update on the status of the town's Act 537 Plan–the township's official sewage facilities plan–at a meeting on Jan. 23. "The township's Act 537 Planning Team have been conducting weekly meetings to track and expedite the Act 537 Plan resubmittal process," informed Trio to the supervisors on Monday night. Newtown Township Zoning Hearing Board granted approval for Episcopal Academy's special exception to construct a sanitary sewer force main through a floodplain on Dec. 15 with conditions on approval by the township, county and state.
NEWTOWN SQUARE–Members of Newtown Township's Zoning Hearing Board voted unanimously on Dec. 15 to move forward with Episcopal Academy's application to construct a sanitary sewer force main through a flood hazard district in the township to provide a public sanitary sewer service to the school. The school, located on 1785 Bishop White Drive, off of Newtown Street Road/Route 252, sought to seek a special exception, the first step of many approvals for the project, on Thursday night's meeting to construct a sewer line through the southern part of their property, owned by Ashford Land Co. Newtown Board of Supervisors approved the final draft of the Ashford cluster development plan for the Department of Environmental Protection's approval at a meeting on Sept. 26.
NEWTOWN SQUARE–The Rouse Group/Ashford Land Company sought final approval from the Newtown Board of Supervisors at a meeting on Monday evening for their Ashford cluster development planning module. The board unanimously approved the final draft of the 449-unit, sub-division cluster development of single-family homes located at the former John duPont estate and Biddle Farm off of Route 252/Newtown Street Road. The plan will now be sent to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for their approval. Sweeney, who was appointed by the Board of Supervisors on June 27, was appointed by the board members of the Municipal Authority as the chairman of the board. NEWTOWN SQUARE–Newtown supervisors approved the appointments of two candidates to fill the vacant seats on the township's Municipal Authority at a Board of Supervisors meeting on Aug. 9. NEWTOWN SQUARE–Newtown Township's Municipal Authority held its first meeting without former Chairman Bob Jackson and with a newly appointed member Joseph Sweeney on Aug. 1. Within a few days of each other, the Board of Supervisors approved the appointment of Sweeney to the Municipal Authority on June 27 and Jackson resigned as chairman on June 29.
