Live Homework Help offers K-12 tutoring to members of the 28 Delaware County Library System institutions.
MEDIA–Delaware County Council renewed the county library system’s subscription for Live Homework Help at last Wednesday’s meeting. Delco Council Vice-Chairman Mario J. Civera said the year-long subscription renewal cost the county $66,695. The Tutor.com service offers one-on-one online tutoring with professionals in subjects ranging from English to physics and can be accessed at home in addition to at the library. Older students also have access to a career-counseling component as part of the program. “We anticipate approximately 10,000 sessions in the upcoming year,” said Director of Delaware County Library System David Belanger. A grant was given out to Delaware County libraries to help residents be financially better off.
MEDIA–A nearly $100,000 grant has been given to Delaware County libraries to help residents become financially fit. The Delaware County Council and the Delaware County Library System (DCLS) announced that county libraries will provide a free series of presentations and materials to help people of all ages and economic levels to be in a better financial place, a council press release stated. The American Library Association and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Investor Education Foundation awarded a $97,470 grant to DCLS and the Library Foundation of Delaware County to provide a two-year financial education program, called MoneySmart@your library, that is broken up into three levels: “We were one of just 16 libraries nationwide …

Marple Public Library hosted a Didgeridoo-Australia show with Didg Revolution on July 26 as part of the county's summer reading program "One World, Many Stories."
BROOMALL–Koalas, kangaroos and kookaburras–those were just a few creatures that Raihan Alma of Didg Revolution introduced to the patrons, both young and old, at Marple Public Library on Tuesday evening. As part of Delaware County Library System's summer reading program this year, "One World, Many Stories," Marple library hosted an Australia-themed show featuring Alma's skills on the traditional Aborigine Australian instrument: the didgeridoo. The didgeridoo, traditionally made out of wood, is a long tube in which you blow air into one side of the tube, creating vibrations and, ultimately, sounds.
