The Pennsylvania State Police will step up its traffic enforcement over the Thanksgiving holiday.
MEDIA–The Pennsylvania State Police will aggressively enforce motor vehicle laws over the Thanksgiving weekend due to increased traffic on the roadways. Troopers will be targeting DUI, speeding and seat belt violations. Troopers will also seek out and citing careless and aggressive drivers. The Thanksgiving holiday weekend also falls during the National Click It or Ticket campaign, which is underway until Dec. 2. Click It or Ticket focuses on the proper seat belt and child safety seat usage. Certified car seat technicians from PSP-Media Barracks will hold a child car seat event on Monday, Nov. 26, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the lot adjacent to the barracks at 1342 W. Baltimore Pike in Media. The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce will establish the checkpoints Thanksgiving week.
According to a press release to the media, the Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce will conduct DUI checkpoints the week of November 19 within Springfield Township. The press release was issued by the Haverford Township Police Department on November 16 and did not indicate at what times and locations the checkpoints will take place. The DUI Taskforce includes four other municipalities—Haverford, Marple, Newtown, and Radnor. It has been in operation since September 2009, during which time it has conducted 36 operations. The taskforce has made 79 arrests for DUI, issued 29 citations for underage drinking, and written over 900 additional citations and warnings for other offenses. Checkpoints and DUI patrols will take place in Delaware County.
The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce will be performing patrols this weekend, according to a press release. "The purpose of the Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce is to save lives on the roadways and reduce injuries by aggressively enforcing DUI laws. The Northern Delaware County DUI Task Force will be conducting patrols Friday night.
According to a press release to the media, the Northern Delaware County DUI Task Force will conduct roving patrols Friday night, Sept. 23. The press release, sent out by the Haverford Township Police Department Wednesday morning, stated that the task force will be conducting the roving patrols "within it's jurisdictional area." Initiative employs federal funds for the initiative “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.”
Through Labor Day, Delaware County towns will increase DUI checkpoints after receiving federal funds, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Working in cooperation with the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” initiative, 14 local police departments—and 600 statewide—will "conduct roving patrols and checkpoints targeting motorists under the influence of drugs or alcohol," according to a PennDOT news release.
