Gravity Sewer Approved For All of Echo Valley

The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors approved the neighborhood of Echo Valley to run on a gravity sewer system in the proposed Act 537 Sewage Facilities Plan.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–A decision was finally made at Monday night's Newtown Township Board of Supervisors meeting on the fate of the sewer system proposed in the Echo Valley section of Newtown Township. Supervisors unanimously approved to move forward with the Act 537 Sewage Facilities Plan that will include Echo Valley running on a gravity sewer system. James MacCombie, township sewer engineer on the project, orginally proposed the $25 million Act 537 Plan to have 112 Echo Valley homes serviced by a low-pressure sewer system and only a handful with a gravity sewer system.  MacCombie initially recommended a low-pressure system in the Echo Valley neighborhood primarily due to environmental constraints, the way the homes were located, and the most-…

Still Without a Chairman, Municipal Authority Discusses Township's Act 537 Plan

Newly appointed member Joseph Sweeney joined the few members left on the Municipal Authority at their meeting on Aug. 1.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Newtown Township's Municipal Authority held its first meeting without former Chairman Bob Jackson and with a newly appointed member Joseph Sweeney on Aug. 1. Within a few days of each other, the Board of Supervisors approved the appointment of Sweeney to the Municipal Authority on June 27 and Jackson resigned as chairman on June 29. That currently still leaves the board with two vacant seats. Despite the new changes on the board, residents didn't skip a beat and demanded answers and direction from the remaining members Mark Caldwell and Jack Lear as well as newly appointed member Sweeney in regards to the Act 537 Plan and an update on the Florida Park and Echo Valley special studies. Newtown Planning Approves Echo Valley Special Study, Denies Florida Park, Olde Masters Golf and Marville

The Newtown Municipal Authority Engineer presented two special studies and two planning modules for approval from the Planning Commission on June 23.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The bulk of a nearly three-hour Newtown Planning Commission meeting on Thursday evening was taken up by the township's Municipal Authority presentation. Kevin Matson of Kelly & Close Engineers, and the Municipal Authority engineer, presented two revisions to the Newtown Township Act 537 Plan involving two special studies with the Echo Valley and Florida Park sections in the township. Matson also presented two sewage facilities planning modules of component 4A, both owned by National Realty Corporation, L.P., for Olde Masters Golf and Retirement Village and parcels A, B, C, D of the Marville site.
