NEWTOWN SQUARE–On Jan. 31 at approximately 4:40 p.m., Newtown police responded to the unit block of Saint Albans Avenue for a two-vehicle crash with no injuries reported. Upon arrival, police observed a Cadillac parked directly behind a gray pick-up, both occupied by only one person in each vehicle. Police approached the driver of the Cadillac and the driver opened his door to which police immediately detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle, according to the report. According to the report, police observed 24 unopened cans of beer sitting on the passenger floor of the vehicle. BROOMALL–On Dec. 21 at approximately 2:25 p.m., Marple police responded to the T.J. Maxx in the Lawrence Park Shopping Center for a reported retail theft. Police spoke with the store’s loss prevention officer who stated she observed a woman enter the store–who had stolen from the store in the past but was never caught–and select a pair of boots off of the shelves and place them in her bag. The woman then selected a pair of shoes off the shelf and carry them to the front of the store, according to the report. The woman set the shoes down on a display by the front door and walked out with the boots, according to the report. The boots were valued at $99.99. BROOMALL–On Nov. 29 at approximately 7:40 p.m., Marple police observed a Pontiac Grand Prix fail to stop at a stop sign westbound on Harding Avenue at Sproul Road. Police pulled over the vehicle and it was discovered the driver was driving on a suspended license. While waiting for the tow truck to arrive, police advised the man to take any valuables from the vehicle. A back-up officer also responded to the scene who observed the man place a padded bag in his pocket. According to the report, the padded bag is often seen used to carrying a pipe used for smoking marijuana. NEWTOWN SQUARE–On Thursday, Sept. 13, at approximately 10:25 p.m., Newtown police responded to a burglary in progress at 3 North Line Road in Newtown Square. Police were advised that a man wearing gray camouflage shorts and a gray shirt was observed climbing into the second-floor window of the Delaware County-Chester County Answering Service office building. According to the report, the man was seen exiting the second-floor window, walk across the overhang roof, down the length of the building and climbing into another window. Newtown Township Police Department reported two recent incidents involving underage drinking around the township.
NEWTOWN SQUARE–On June 2 at approximately 1 a.m., Newtown police was stopped at a traffic light on N. Newtown Street Rd./Rt. 252 and Goshen Rd., facing northbound when they observed a black BMW traveling east on Goshen Rd. making a left turn onto Rt. 252. According to the incident report, when the vehicle made the left turn, it turned into the southbound travel lanes rather than the northbound travel lanes. Police activated their emergency lights to pull the vehicle over, but the BMW was traveling at a very high rate of speed, according to the report, north on Rt. 252. Newtown police issued out a statement on Sept. 13, seeking the public's assistance in identifying a thief who has stolen from a few drugstore chain stores in the area.
NEWTOWN SQUARE–Newtown Township Police issued out a statement on Sept. 13, seeking the public's help on catching a thief who has committed thefts at the CVS in Newtown Square, Rite Aide in Newtown Square and another CVS in Eattown Township. Police said on Sept. 10 at approximately 2:18 pm, officers responded to the CVS Pharmacy located at 3930 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square for a reported theft of cigarettes. According to police, the manager of the store told police that a white male, approximately 23 years old, came in and asked for a lighter and two cartons of Newport Box cigarettes. ARDMORE–Lower Merion Township Police issued a summons on Aug. 22 to Shawn Heard, 18, of Newtown Square, for an incident involving underage drinking and a DUI arrest in July in Bryn Mawr. Lower Merion police officer David Herbst arrested Heard on July 7 around 1:20 a.m. at the intersection of County Line Road and Bryn Mawr Avenue. Heard had a blood alcohol content of .15. He was arrested and charged on five counts–DUI: Gen Imp/Inc of Driving Safety (first offense); DUI: High Rate of Alcohol, BAC of .10-.16 (first offense); Purchase, etc. of Alcoholic Beverage(s) by a Minor; Duties at Stop Sign; and Failure to Yield at Yield Sign. On May 18 at 9:26 a.m., Newtown police responded to a reported theft at the Liberty gas station on West Chester Pike. According to the incident report, an unknown actor had stolen approximately $50 from the Coca-Cola vending machine located at the front of the service station between the entrance door and the vehicle bay door. On May 17 at approximately 4 p.m., police responded to Rose Glen Court in the Springton Pointe Woods development for a solicitors ordinance violation.
