The subject of this week's Fast Forward is playing in the pool at Marple Newtown Swim Club's 60th anniversary celebration.
BROOMALL–In this week's Fast Forward feature, we stopped by Marple Newtown Swim Club's recent milestone-worthy celebration for their 60th anniversary. From young to old, members of the swim club had an enjoyable day by the pool or in the pool. We caught a few members having fun in the pool with a beach ball. Watch them in fast motion. Editor's note: Fast Forward is a video feature for Marple Newtown Patch, where we’ll take a slice of life in our community and put it on fast forward each week.

The Swim Club’s members came together for an all-day party to mark their 60-year milestone on Aug. 13.
BROOMALL–It’s a banner year for the Marple Newtown Swim Club. The club, which is nestled in the heart of a charming Broomall neighborhood, hosted a 60th anniversary party for its members on Saturday. There was a moon bounce, shuffleboard, inflatable basketball, swimming races, and the funniest dive contest to be enjoyed by many of the younger members at the swim club. There were raffles for great goodies, and a big birthday cake that was quickly gobbled up by partygoers. The Swim Club, off of Sunset Boulevard, is the perfect…

Even though Marple Newtown Swim Team didn't sport a winning record this summer, Ron Nagel has won the hearts of his team, his spectators and even his opponents.

He arrives each day with his ear phones in, his sweatshirt hood up, and a huge smile on his face. He's almost always the first one in the pool. The team forgets the fact that Nagel's a Special Olympian wth Down's Syndrome—to them, he's just another swimmer trying to find his way. Ron trains daily for an hour and a half, not always making all the drills and practice sets, but never failing to try. Day by day, year after year since he was 5 years old, Nagel gives it his all. This summer, as a senior, Nagel's events have doubled in distance. He now has to do four lengths…
